Accessibility Monitor

Continuous accessibility monitoring for public-sector websites, monthly scans against WCAG 2.1 AA and EN 301 549. Built to show how we read the standard and apply it at scale.

What it does

Scans a public sector website every month, flags issues by severity with plain-language explanations and suggested fixes, tracks a compliance score over time, and produces the compliance report auditors and reviewers expect.

Why it is here

Accessibility drifts out of conformance between one-off audits. Continuous, plain-English oversight lets a body see where its sites stand, without standing up an in-house accessibility team.

Scope, stated plainly

The interactive demo uses illustrative sample data for a labelled sample site. It is a demonstration of the product flow, not a live accessibility audit of any real organisation.

What it does

Short, practical lessons across real tracks (JavaScript, Git and collaboration, web accessibility, and career and teamwork) with a community forum and a personal progress dashboard.

Why it is here

A brochure site and an application are different disciplines. This shows we can hold structure, state and keyboard operation together in something that behaves like software.

Scope, stated plainly

Our own demo build. Content is illustrative sample data and progress is stored locally in the browser. It demonstrates the concept and our education-sector capability, not a live service with real users.

Objection and decision data is public but fragmented across 31 local authority planning portals and An Coimisiún Pleanála. We are building one structured, searchable view of it.

Context

Objection and decision data on Irish planning applications is public, but it is fragmented across 31 local authority planning portals and An Coimisiún Pleanála, in formats that make it hard to search or compare.

Challenge

Property and planning professionals need to find relevant objections and decisions quickly, and to trust what they are reading, which means every summary has to be traceable to the record it came from.

Approach

  1. 01Mapping the source portals and the shape of the data each one publishes.
  2. 02Designing a single structured schema the sources can be normalised into.
  3. 03Plain-English summaries that always link back to the source record.
  4. 04Accessible search, filtering and alerting as a first-class concern.
  5. 05Building in the open about provenance, every claim is checkable.

Solution

A structured, searchable view of planning objection and decision data drawn from the local authority portals and An Coimisiún Pleanála. Summaries are written in plain English and every one links back to the exact source record, so a professional can verify it rather than take our word for it.

Status: this is our own product and it is in active development. We describe it as what it is, not as a delivered client project.

Outcome

In development. We will publish outcomes here once the platform is in the hands of its first users and we have evidence to report.

AI-assisted accessibility & security reviews

For Irish SMEs · a review, not a formal assurance audit

A prioritised, plain-English report on where a site actually stands, accessibility issues mapped to specific WCAG 2.2 success criteria, plus security fundamentals.

Context

Irish SMEs who want to know where their website actually stands on accessibility and security fundamentals before they decide what to spend money on.

Challenge

Formal audits are expensive and assume you already know what you are buying. What most SMEs need first is an honest, prioritised baseline in plain English.

Approach

  1. 01Automated tooling across accessibility and security fundamentals.
  2. 02Manual expert testing, because automated tools catch only a minority of issues.
  3. 03AI-assisted drafting of the report, reviewed line by line by a person.
  4. 04Findings mapped to WCAG 2.2 success criteria and to named security fundamentals.
  5. 05An optional remediation roadmap if you want one.

Solution

A prioritised, plain-English report on where a site stands. Accessibility issues are mapped to specific WCAG 2.2 success criteria; security fundamentals cover headers, TLS configuration, dependency and CMS currency, and exposed surfaces. Each finding carries impact, effort and a recommended fix, and the report itself is delivered in an accessible format.

Scope boundary. This reviews publicly observable configuration and content. It is a review, not a formal assurance audit, and not a penetration test. Any active testing happens only with the site owner's written authorisation.

Outcome

A pilot in progress. We are refining the report format with early participants before offering it more widely.
